SOLD - Royal Enfield Model C WW2 (Barn Find)

£5,200.00

It is not often that a genuine “Barn find” motorcycle comes to the market but now is your opportunity to own a lovely “time warp” Royal Enfield Model C 350cc.

Royal Enfield Motorcycles produced over 17,000 Model C motorcycles for the War Department during WW2 before production ceased in early 1942.  Following the end of the war in Europe in May 1945, the WD/C Royal Enfield was among the first types of War Office machinery to be sold off or sold back to the factory. Having been rebuilt from stocks of both new and reconditioned parts, these post-war “new” Model C motorcycles were sold to a transport-hungry public.  We believe that this motorcycle is one of these bikes.

This bike has seen very little use since it was first registered in November 1948 and shows a mileage of just 27265 on the speedometer.    When purchased by the current owners the tax disc holder showed an original tax disc dated January 1967.  When removed from the holder there were two further discs behind it, the first of which was dated 1956 and the other was for a visit to the Isle of Man in June 1949.

The bike comes with a current V5C, registration XMC 938A and is registered as a Historic Vehicle and is therefore free road tax and MOT exempt.  The number is non-transferable.

The bike has seen very little use, if any, for a number of years and has stood in a dry barn.  As a genuine “Barn Find” we have deliberately decided to leave it in its existing barn find patina, preferring to leave the decision of what to do to it to the next custodian.  It has been recommissioned by us and now runs and rides nicely.  During this process the fuel tank was removed and flushed through, the carburettor cleaned and magneto points removed, cleaned and reset.  The oil has been drained and replaced with fresh oil.  The wiring for the lights has not been replaced and would need a rewire if the new owner wishes to take it on the road after dark.  Please look at the photographs and contact us if you have any questions, which we will do our best to answer.
