This Matchless G9 500cc twin was built at the factory in March 1953 and tested by Jack Colver, the famous Experimental Shop Technician before being delivered to Kings of Oxford.
This is very probably the best Matchless G9 for sale in the UK at the moment. The bike has been completely restored over a number of years to an exceptionally high standard. The engine has had all moving parts replaced and the paint and chrome finished have been renewed. As a result of this restoration the bike starts and runs with ease and rides like a motorcycle fresh off the production line. As a result the engine is going to need to be carefully run in.
The bike comes with a current V5C, registration 824 XVW and is registered as a historic vehicle and is therefore free road tax and MOT exempt. The number is none-transferable.
The frame and cycle parts have been painted.
The engine has been fully rebuilt with all necessary moving parts replaced.
All chrome work has been either re-chromed or replaced.
The wheels have been rebuilt with new rims and the centers are painted red and silver edging.
The exhausts are new replacements and the correct for year megaphone silencers
Wheels are fitted with a new Avon MK II on the rear and Avon Speedmaster on the front. The front tyre still has its Anon sticker in place.
New chains fitted
The Smiths speedometer has been reconditioned and currently shows 2 miles on the clock.
The bike has been rewired and the horn and lights work and has also been fitted with a discreetly hidden magneto cutout switch.
There is a small nick in the fabric on the right side of the new duel seat.
