This very lovely 1953 350cc AJS Model 16MCS was manufactured by the factory in September 1952 and retains its original frame, engine, gearbox and magneto. These bikes were made for the sporting enthusiast who would ride their bike to work during the week and then to a local Scramble at the weekend where they would take part in the races and then ride home again. The bike was restored by the previous owner some 20 years ago and then stored but not ridden. Following our recommissioning work rides very well and has a sporty performance, which is no surprise given it was built specifically to take part in scrambles. The bike comes with a current V5C, registration TXS 630and is registered as a historic vehicle and is therefore free road tax and MOT exempt.

The frame and cycle parts have all been repainted.

Engine fitted with an original factory wire wound piston at +20

New stainless steel mudguards fitted.

Wheels have been rebuilt with new chrome rims and spokes. The front wheel is 21” and rear 19”.

Both front and rear tyres appear to have had very little wear.

A correct new chrome exhaust pipe and upswept silencer

The correct Lucas competition Wader magneto is fitted and has a healthy spark but we are not aware if it was rebuilt when the bike was restored.

New chrome handlebars with the correct ball end levers

New rear chain

Correct competition footrests

During recommissioning the petrol tank was found to have a leak through the front left fixing bolt, however, this has been professionally repaired and the tank leak tested.  The top painted surface of the tank shows some paint bubbling.

As this bike is a competition model there are no lights, dynamo or toolboxes fitted.
