Norton 1944 WD 16h

Sale Price:£6,000.00 Original Price:£6,500.00

This genuine matching numbers WW2 Norton 16h has been off the road for many years but has been recommissioned by us and now starts, runs and rides very well.  The engine sounds very sweet and it is a delight to ride.

The motorcycle has matching frame and engine numbers of W94135 and was supplied to the War Office under contract S.5161 dated 27th November 1943.  The war time registration C number on the petrol tank would most likely have been C5488535. It also comes with a dating certificate from the VMCC and a further one from the AJS & Matchless Owners Club.

The bike comes with a current V5C, registration WXS 657 and is registered as a Historic Vehicle and is therefore free road tax and MOT exempt.  The V5C records that there have been no former keepers, as the bike was registered by us.  The registration number is recorded as being non-transferable.

Apart from recommissioning the bike we have not undertaken any cosmetic work and have decided to leave this to the next custodian.  It is generally a very original and complete motorcycle but is missing a speedo and dynamo and the control levers are later replacements.  The pillion seat is also missing the upper frame.

The Norton 16h is a rare motorcycle and far fewer have survived than the equivalent BSA M20.  This is because they were sold off soon after the war to a transport hungry public.
