Buy a WD motorcycle now and take part in the 80th Anniversary celebrations of D Day in June 2024.

This original WD Matchless G3WO was supplied to the War Office under contract C5247 dated 18th January 1940.  They were delivered at 200 per week, which means that due to the low frame number the bike would probably have been manufactured in late 1939.  This bike would have almost certainly have gone to France with the BEF and then been left behind at the time of the Dunkirk evacuation as it was found in Manheim, Germany in 2014.  The original war time registration number it carried was C 64570 as this is stamped on the crankcase above the engine number.

The bike comes with a current V5C, registration OXS 624 and is registered as a Historic Vehicle and is therefore free road tax and MOT exempt.  The V5C records that there has been only one owner since it was restored and that the number is non-transferable.

The bike was fully restored in 2016 and painted in RAF blue as a tribute to No.1 Squadron who were deployed to France as RAF Advanced Air Strike Force at the outbreak of WW2 and flew in supporting the BEF.  At the time the engine was fully rebuilt and it was fitted with period correct accessories such as the correct WD speedo, switch and ammeter as well as the correct dull chromed Bowden leavers. It also has its original “Panel tank” petrol tank, which is exceptionally rare.

The bike is in full working order and start, runs and rides nicely.

This is a very rare opportunity to own a genuine panel tank Matchless G3WO.
